MACSAX® Headquarters in Austin, Texas
Design and Specifications
The MACSAX® design team is headed by veteran master saxophone technician Ken Beason and includes input from a host of professors, repair technicians, and most importantly - saxophone players. Having worked with countless saxophones and players over the years, Ken has extensive knowledge of the player's requirements and of the solutions to the problems inherent in many other saxophone designs.
Our ability to work closely with the production team in Taiwan allows us to specify and produce horns which combine all the best attributes of vintage instruments while eliminating the various issues found in many of them.
The MACSAX® production process starts with detailed specifications for each part, including the conical bore dimensions, tone hole size and placement, key heights, regulation material, and fitting tolerance of every part for assembly. Our on-site production managers check each instrument to ensure our strict standards are maintained before shipment to Texas.
All instruments are set up and play-tested before shipment to the USA. All instruments are preserved and prepared for shipment, including corking all open key cups closed and double boxing to maximum protection during shipping. All shipments are by air freight on pallets to minimize the trauma of international shipping.
