The Bob Sheppard Signature mouthpiece is the result of a collaboration between Bob Sheppard and Eric Falcon of MACSAX.

Drawing inspiration from the classic Slant Links, this mouthpiece adds many custom features to meet Bob's artistic demands. Made from pure hard rubber, the mouthpiece features a large round chamber, open throat, and an extremely gentle roll over baffle. The facing curve was designed to allow the player to have great control even at the extreme ranges of dynamics.

The result is a mouthpiece with a thick, rich, and colorful sound at any dynamic.

Available in these facings:

  • 6*
  • 7
  • 7*
  • 8

  1. This mouthpiece is simply awesome!

Posted by Ralph Franke on 6th Nov 2016

The title really says it all. This wonderful mouthpiece allows a rich sound to be produced. Dark, yes, but there are enough highs in the sound for it to be balanced. I have found that many pieces depend on the baffle to produce edge for projection. This piece projects because it has such a strong, solid core.. I look forward to exploring the many colours in this mouthpiece. Thanks must be given to Bob Sheppard for his artistry and knowledge, and to Mike for helping make this piece available. Congratulations must be given to Eric Falcon for having the knowledge and skill to produce a piece of such distinction. High, high recommendations.

  2. Dark, powerful and flexible

This is a great mpc. It's going to take me awhile to learn all the expressive potential in this piece. 8 opening with a 3s Rico filed. The price is decent also. Congrats!

  3. best mouthpiece I've ever played

Posted by Robby Fraticelli on 21st Apr 2015

I met Mike at the 2015 NAME show, and tried out ever mouthpiece they had with them. When I picked this one up, I didn't want to ever give it back. It is the most responsive, free blowing piece I've ever played on. I lover it so much I immediately bough one for myself. Worth every penny.

  4. Top-notch

Posted by Brian Donohoe on 17th Aug 2012

This is the first new mouthpiece I've bought in five years, and it's now my main piece. After spending an hour and a half trying every piece in Eric's shop, I settled on this one because it had, for me, the perfect balance of resistance vs. ease of play, and a much deeper, richer sound than the piece I was coming from. It's exactly what I was looking for, which was a really good rubber Link design, done exactly right. Coming from a 7* with #4 reeds, I actually went up a tip opening size while keeping the reeds consistent because the piece was so easy to play, so I got an 8. Eric is a world-class craftsman and a very smart guy who is serious about his work and making some of the best mouthpieces I've ever tried.

  5. Wow ! Finally a facing that works !

Posted by Dan Teare on 27th Jun 2012

    Eric -
For over 3 decades I've searched for the custom mouthpiece with a facing that allows me to do whatever I want, when I want; and to allow for subtle changes in the airstream for different tibres & voicings. And the sound! You nailed the old schol vintage sound that brings my 6 alive. The vibrance, response, intonation, altissimo, subtone - it's all there.
After working for Motown, a career in the West Point Band, performing at the World Sax Congress, etc, my varied performance types means I need a piece that can do it all with the vintage sound. This is it!
    Thanks Eric.

  6. A great alternative to the vintage mouthpiece hunt!

Posted by Ben Wendel on 31st May 2012

“Bob is an absolute guru of the saxophone – his knowledge of the critical relationship between mouthpiece and horn is unparalleled in my opinion. The Bob Sheppard Model represents a culmination of his many years of playing, experimentation and experience - combined with Eric Falcon's expert craftsmanship. The MPC plays beautifully with great tone, response, and attack. I found the intonation to be even and the altissimo came out easily. A great alternative to the vintage mouthpiece hunt – I endorse this to any player, whether professional, student, etc.”
